The Light and Shadow Fine Art Gallery was established in February 2018 in the boutique, beautiful village of Leura in the World Heritage Blue Mountains. With an abundance of natural light flooding in and surrounded by gorgeous greenery, just outside the tourist strip of Leura Mall, it is an ideal location for showcasing art.
The Gallery has three exhibition rooms. The main downstairs gallery has a permanent display of the iconic photography of Max Dupain AC OBE (1911-1992), Australia’s most influential photographer. Dupain was a pioneer and exponent of the Modernist and Documentary styles of photography in Australia and was regarded as Australia’s best architectural photographer. Glicee and Edition hand prints will be changed at regular intervals to showcase the great variety of Dupain’s works over sixty years.
The upstairs galleries are dedicated to local artists and photographers who have mastered the art of narrative composition, imaginative perspective and light and shadow. No pretty landscapes here, just artwork that inspires and challenges the viewer. The gallery also attempts to exhibit fine ceramics and sculptures to provide the viewer with a 3 dimensional engagement.
